What does Journalism mean to me?

I think of Journalism as a tool. A hammer is always going to be a hammer. It doesn't work on screws. If I need to know something I expect the Commercial Appeal to have the information I need. I view journalism seperately from entertainment. While some publications employ the same methods as other more serious sources, I don't view them equally.

Bio

I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio although I've lived in Memphis for the majority of my life. I live in Bartlett,Tn., a suburb of Memphis. I attend The University of Memphis and am presently working towards a Public Relations degree. I am what is considered a non-traditional student because I'm older than most of my classmates. I am a single father of a lovely little girl named Zora. I named her after my favorite writer Harlem Renaissance author Zora Neal Hurston. I study, I work , and I spend time with Zora. If I have spare time I spend it cooking or accumulating music for my dj performances. I have been a club dj locally and in Northern California for Fifteen years. Djng is the way I release stress and it has served me well. I've been able to see places of the country I probably wouldn't have seen otherwise. When it comes to writing persuasively I admit that I am a novice. I look forward to acquiring the skills that will make me a more effective writer.
